2021 DTLA Skid Row Homeless Outreach

NAI volunteer embraces an unhoused resident in the San Fernando Valley during our Monthly Homeless Outreach in 2021 beginning in Skid Row, Los Angeles

Beginning in Ventura County, NAI’s volunteer team landed itself in Skid Row, known for being an area of great need, with a couple of stops in the San Fernando Valley on the way back home. We immediately make our presence known when we set our donation tables up and send several volunteers down each street to give word that help is here. There is nothing ever glamorous going to areas with such disparities as a result of marginalization, in fact, it is imperative that we mentally stand fierce in our vision despite the chaos and unpleasant situations surrounding us at every corner. The least our teams can provide is donated food, hygeine skits, and clothing made by our generous donors every month.

As we continue to support multiple local populations undergoing heavy hardship, this outreach was one of the most memorable to date. We at NAI had the privilege to touch their hearts in whatever way possible and hopefully help them feel truly loved and cared for in the best way that we can. Though this isn’t a perfect solution to the homeless crisis in Los Angeles, our best is making the time we have to share our treasures and moments with those that feel hopeless and forgotten.

Dear DTLA, we will make our return soon. If you would like to join our monthly homeless outreach volunteer team of operations, please visit our take action page and apply to join the NAI team!
